Kicking Off - Wednesday 27th August 2025!
In order to be ready for starting school this term, we’ve created this short guide, which should answer most of your questions. We’ll update it based on any other queries we receive. The good news is that there is very little you need to do!
What time do you start and finish?
School begins at 8:50am for all pupils. Infants finish at 1:30pm and all other classes finish at 2:30pm. On the first day back, everyone will finish at 12pm.
Junior Infants will start school at 9am on the first day so that you can park in the basketball courts and walk them into their classroom for their first day.
What does my child need on the first day?
All you need is:
- A school bag
- A stocked pencil case – pencil, rubber, sharperner and colours
- A small snack for little break.
Our school supplies all schoolbooks and copies for all children.
We should have school lunches up and running by day 2.
Junior Infants and Other First Timers
We want to make your first day experience a memorable one and we also want to make it as comfortable for your child(ren) as possible.
If you are driving to school, while your child is settling in, you should park in the basketball courts.
On the first day, we have a giant photo frame so make sure to get a photo of your first day at big school!
In general, parents should leave their child(ren) at the front door to walk into their classroom but for the first day, we allow families to walk their child to their classroom. However, please make sure to not hang around. This is an important transition for both you and your child(ren.) We are well versed in managing upset children (and adults) and the best thing you can do is give a big hug and go as quickly as possible.
Our parents’ association will have tea and coffee ready for you so feel free to grab a cup and meet other families. Remember, they’re going to be with you for the next 8 years so it’s a lovely time to get to know each other.
For children joining us in older classes, please let the staff at the front know the name of your child’s class or teacher and someone will bring you up to the classroom to introduce you to the teacher. We will make sure to help settle your child(ren) into their new class.
Drop off and Pick up

We have a traffic management system in our school to ensure a smooth flow and keep our children safe. The first few days are very busy but they do calm down! Please allow about 15 minutes on the first day and please do not arrive before 12pm as you may find yourself blocking the Athy Road.
On entering the site, you keep left and drive around the basketball courts, coming through the staff car park and around to the front. If you need to leave your car, there are very limited parking spaces on the basketball court.
At 2:30pm, please follow the same route and arrangements as morning time.
Infant pick up is a little easier as you can simply turn right as you come to the school and you can pick up from the Set Down Area.
We will have people around for the first few days to help you. Please make sure to follow the directions of staff to ensure everyone is safe.
School App
Our school uses the popular Aladdin App for all communication. You should have received an email / text with details for downloading and accessing your child’s account. If not, don’t worry – email / phone the office any time from 21st August and we’ll help you get set up.
Ordering School Lunches
You order school lunches through the School Food Company. More information can be found on their site
Bus Transport
If you require bus transport to the school, this can be applied for through Bus Eireann. Here is the link to their portal:
If you have any queries about your bus, please contact 0818 919 910. Unfortunately the school doesn’t have any information about the scheme. However, we know that often it can take until mid-late August for their timetables and routes to be finalised.
If your child finishes school at 1:30pm, Play Together have limited places for children until 2:30pm. Please make sure to book your place with Play Together if you haven’t done so already.
